  1. 1 A single case may include allegations of violations of more than one section o fthe act. Therefore, the total of the various allegations is more than the figure for total cases.
  2. 2 An 8 (a) (1) is a general provision forbidding any type of employer interference with the rights of employees guaranteed by the act, and therefore is included in all charges of employer unfair labor practices.

0 of 21 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 106. The page prints three stacked sections (A, B, C), each laid out as two side-by-side panels sharing one set of column headings printed only at the top of section A. Following the two-panel rule, each section's left-panel rows are given first and then that section's right-panel rows, in a single set of three columns: stub, "Number of cases showing specific allegations", "Percent of total cases". So in section A, rows 8 (a) (3)/(4)/(5) come from the right panel; in section B, rows 8 (b) (4)/(5)/(6) come from the right panel; in section C, the block beginning "Total cases 8 (b) (4)" is the right panel. The three section lines (A., B., C.) are printed inside the table area above each rule block and are transcribed as label-only rows. The stub column carries no printed heading, hence the empty cell 0 in header_rows. Footnote-marker reading: the raised marker on the 8 (a) (1) row (both the 4,409 and the 100.0 cells) and the marker opening the second footnote are the same glyph, and in this degraded scan it could be read as either a raised 2 or a raised 3; since the table carries exactly two footnotes I have transcribed it as ^2 / "2 An 8 (a) (1) ...". The raised 1 markers on the "Total cases", "Total cases 8 (b) (1)" and "Total cases 8 (b) (4)" value cells are clear. Footnote 1 is transcribed as printed: the scan reads "more than one section o fthe act", an evident typesetting/spacing slip for "of the act"; I have not corrected it. Arithmetic cross-check (not used to alter any cell): every percent printed is consistent with its count over the relevant total, in all three sections.
