Eight columns: stub, then "Total", "A.F.L", "C.I O.", "Unaffiliated unions" (the first four under the spanner "Number of polls"), then three tall single headings "Union shop rejected", "Employees eligible to vote", "Total valid votes". Heading punctuation: the affiliation headings are printed as "A.F.L" (no final period) and "C.I O." (period after the C, none after the I); the scan is degraded there and the intended forms are almost certainly "A. F. L." and "C. I. O.". Transcribed as they appear. Arithmetic checks: every cross-total reconciles exactly except one. In the "Total valid votes" column, the seven detail lines under "Transportation, communication, and other public utilities" (36,279 + 72,655 + 16,663 + 26,967 + 59,361 + 92,564 + 135,401) sum to 439,890, while the section line is printed as 439,896 — a difference of 6. The section figure 439,896 is the one consistent with the grand total of 5,548,982, so the error is likely a misprint or a misread digit in one of the seven detail cells; I could not resolve which at this resolution. All detail cells are transcribed as printed. All other checks pass: the poll columns sum correctly for Total, Manufacturing, Transportation equipment, Mining and the transportation block; "Employees eligible to vote" reconciles throughout; and "Total valid votes" reconciles for Manufacturing and the grand total. Indentation note: "Retail trade" and "Finance, insurance, and real estate" are printed with deeper indentation than "Construction" and "Wholesale trade" even though all four are major-division lines; labels are kept as printed.
