p. 318. Thirteen columns. The spanner "Number of polls" covers columns 1-5 (Total; A. F. L.; C. I. O; Unaffiliated; Union shop rejected), and "Votes cast in favor of union shop by affiliation of petitioning union" covers columns 9-11. "Total", "Union shop rejected", "Employees eligible to vote", "Total valid votes cast", "Percent casting valid votes" and "Votes cast against union shop" are tall single headings repeated down the levels they span. Decimal points: every cell in the "Percent casting valid votes" column is printed with the decimal point too faint to see in this 1-bit scan, so the column reads "84 8", "88 0", "84 8", "84 0", "82 3", "80 8". I have transcribed them as 84.8, 88.0, 84.8, 84.0, 82.3, 80.8; each is confirmed by the ratio of total valid votes cast to employees eligible to vote (e.g. 5,548,982/6,545,001 = 84.8). Row "1949", column "Number of polls / Unaffiliated": the digit-grouping separator images as a period ("2.154") rather than a comma. Transcribed as 2,154; this is confirmed by arithmetic (10,448 + 1,979 + 2,154 + 493 = 15,074) and by the column sum (2,469 + 2,154 + 954 + 721 + 161 = 6,459). Row "1951", column "Number of polls / A. F. L.": a stray mark follows the value, which images as "3,062." The trailing dot is not part of the number (column sums to 30,347); transcribed as 3,062. Heading spelling: in the left-hand group the heading images as "A. F L." (the period after F is lost in the scan) while the right-hand group shows "A. F. L."; both are transcribed as "A. F. L." Both "C. I. O" headings are printed without a closing period, as transcribed. No footnotes are printed beneath the table. All internal checks pass: the five fiscal-year rows sum to the Total row in all twelve numeric columns, the three affiliation-of-poll columns plus "Union shop rejected" sum to "Number of polls / Total" in every row, and the three "in favor" columns plus "Votes cast against union shop" sum to "Total valid votes cast" in every row.
