337 of 337 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 310. The crop cuts the table off after the Kansas row: the remaining geographic divisions (South Atlantic onward) and the grand total are not on this image. A single partial line of type is visible along the bottom edge below the Kansas row — almost certainly the start of footnote 1, keyed to the stub heading "Division and State^1" — but it is sliced by the crop and unreadable, so `footnotes` is left empty. The stub heading carries a raised 1 after "State"; no other footnote markers appear in the table. Column 12 is the final unruled column at the far right ("Employees in units choosing representation"); columns 2-4 are the sub-columns of "in which representation rights were won by—" and columns 8-11 the sub-columns of "Valid votes cast for—". The right-hand group's four sub-headings sit slightly higher on the page than the left group's, but they occupy the same logical level, so they are repeated across heading levels 2 and 3. Verification: every division line (New England, Middle Atlantic, East North Central, West North Central) sums exactly to its state rows in all 12 numeric columns, so column assignment and digits are cross-checked. No printed total appears to be in error. Minor typographic points, transcribed as the intended digit: Wisconsin's "C I O affiliates" cell (column 3) shows a stray comma-like speck after the 0, read as "0"; "1, 698" and "1, 531" in the East North Central line are written "1,698" and "1,531"; a stray ink dot sits beside New Jersey's "Total valid votes" value (40) and beside Kansas's "in which employees voted to decertify" value (4), neither of which is part of the number. The scan renders the dotted-i in "which", "Division", "Michigan", etc. faintly, but no row label is in doubt.

p. 311. Continuation crop: no column headings are printed on this image, so header_rows is empty. The grid has the stub plus 12 numeric columns, counted from the vertical rules. The crop begins mid-table (the regional panels before "South Atlantic" are on the preceding page) and ends just below the "Puerto Rico" row at a heavy rule; a line of text begins below that rule but is cut off by the crop, so any footnotes printed under the table could not be read and footnotes is empty. Stray scan/ink marks (not footnote markers, and not transcribed): a short double tick just left of the "5" in the South Atlantic row, column 5; a small slanted stroke left of the "0" in the Maryland row, column 8; a small apostrophe-like speck in the right margin beside the Tennessee row, outside column 12. Each cell's own digits are clear. Every regional total row on this page is internally consistent with its listed states in all 12 columns, which supports the column assignments; no printed figure appears to be a misprint.
