p. 303. Eight columns: stub plus seven numeric columns, with "Valid votes cast for losing union" spanning the three columns A. F. L. affiliates / C. I. O. affiliates / Unaffiliated unions. The stub heading and the three single-column headings to its right ("Employees eligible to vote", "Total valid vote cast", "Percent casting valid votes") and the last heading ("Valid votes cast for no union") are tall single headings repeated in both heading levels. Scan quality: the type is lightly broken, so many periods in the abbreviations and in the percent figures are faint or dropped in the image. In the "Percent casting valid votes" column the decimal point is invisible on five values, which print as "90 3" (A. F. L.), "90 6" (A. F. L.—C. I. O.), "85 0" (A. F. L.—Unaffiliated), "89 6" (A. F. L.—A. F. L.) and "95 8"-style spacing elsewhere; every other value in that column shows a clear point in the same position, so these are transcribed with the decimal point. Likewise the union abbreviations lose periods irregularly (e.g. the stub prints "A F. L.—C. I. O", "C. I O.—C. I O", "A. F. L—A F L —C.I.O."); they are transcribed in the regular "A. F. L." / "C. I. O." form. The sub-heading over column 4 prints as "A. F. L affiliates" with no visible period after the L. Section-line punctuation: "Two-union elections:" and "Three-union elections:" end in a colon; the first section line appears to end in a single dot and is transcribed "One-union elections.", but it may be a colon whose upper dot has dropped out. Row labels wrapping onto two printed lines, joined here with the end-of-line hyphen repaired: "A. F. L.—C. I. O.—Unaffil- iated", "A. F. L.—A. F. L.—Un- affiliated", "C. I. O.—C. I. O.—Un- affiliated". Cells printed as a dash rule (------) in the three "losing union" columns are empty cells and are given as "". Arithmetic check (not applied to the cells, only used to verify the digits): all five numeric columns and every data row sum correctly. Columns 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 each add to the printed Total row (187,316; 169,628; 24,978; 31,558; 3,112; 109,980), and in every data row the three losing-union figures plus the no-union figure equal the total valid vote cast. No misprint detected.
