Voting in collective bargaining elections in which a representative was chosen, fiscal year 1952

p. 302. Eleven columns: stub, three single columns, two three-column spanner groups (winning union, losing union), and a tall final column. Decimal points in the "Percent casting valid votes" column: the period is a very small dot and drops out of this 1-bit scan in most rows (it renders as "85 3", "80 6", "84 6", "79 8", etc.), while it survives in a few ("89.2", "87.8", "98.1", "81.7", "93.6", "85.5", "91.3"). All twenty values are one-decimal percentages and the surviving instances confirm the format, so I transcribed every one with a decimal point. No digits were changed. Periods inside the affiliation abbreviations likewise drop out intermittently in the scan — the image shows "A F L", "C I O", "A. F L.", "C. I O." in several row labels where neighbouring rows print the full "A. F. L." and "C. I. O.". I normalized all of them to the predominant printed form. Affected labels: "A. F. L.—A. F. L.—A. F. L.", "A. F. L.—A. F. L.—C. I. O.", "C. I. O.—C. I. O.—Unaffiliated", "C. I. O.—Unaffiliated—Unaffiliated", "A. F. L.—C. I. O.—C. I. O.—Unaffiliated", and the losing-union sub-heading "A F L affiliates" (its winning-union twin prints "A. F. L. affiliates"). Section-label punctuation: "One-union elections" is followed by a mark that images as a raised dot rather than a clean colon, and "Three-union elections" shows no terminal mark at all; "Two-union elections:" and "Four-union elections:" print clear colons. I used a colon on all four. These are not footnote markers. A handwritten ink ellipse — added by a later reader, not part of the printing — encircles the Total row's "584,030" in the "Employees eligible to vote" column and extends left over that row's leader dots. The digits remain legible and are transcribed as printed. Stray ink specks also sit above the Total row in the "Unaffiliated unions" (winning) column and in the blank areas near the "Three-union elections" and "Four-union elections" section lines; none is a digit or a footnote marker. Arithmetic check (verification only — nothing was computed into a cell): for all 19 data rows the seven vote columns sum exactly to the printed "Total valid votes cast", and each of the ten numeric columns sums over the 19 data rows exactly to the printed "Total" row, including 584,030 and 498,250. No misprints found. No footnotes are printed beneath the table, and no part of the table is cut off by the crop.
