  1. 1 A single case may include allegations of violations of more than one section of the act. Therefore, the total of the various allegations is more than the figure for total cases.
  2. 2 An 8 (a) (1) is a general provision forbidding any type of employer interference with the rights of employees, guaranteed by the act, and therefore is included in all charges of employer unfair labor practices.
  3. NOTE.—This table corresponds to the "recapitulation" of charges used in prior annual reports.

0 of 21 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 293. Layout: the table is set as two side-by-side panels sharing one set of column headings, within each of three lettered sections (A, B, C). Following the panel rule, each section's left-panel rows are given first, then that section's right-panel rows, so the section structure stays intact; the headings are given once. The three lettered section titles are printed as centered cross-page headings between rules and are transcribed as label-only rows. Decimal points: in the "Percent of total cases" column the decimal point is broken or lost in this scan for many values, printing as a gap (e.g. "100 0", "9 4", "69 0", "28 5", "58 2", "58 8", "9 1", "26 3", "1 1", "97 4", "3 7", "8 6", "29 5"); it survives clearly in others on the same page ("1.4", "100.0", "62.6", "21.2"). These are treated as scan damage to a printed decimal point and written with the point, parallel to the "8, 044" -> "8,044" rule. Every such reading is consistent with the number/total ratio. Footnote markers: in section A the "Total cases" row carries two raised markers (1 and 2) before each value; they are written as "4,306^1^2" and "100.0^1^2". Raised markers elsewhere are single. As printed, component allegations exceed the totals (e.g. section C left: 651 + 25 = 676 against a total of 668; section C right: 189 + 64 + 26 + 89 = 368 against 302), which footnote 1 explains; nothing was adjusted. The closing NOTE line at the very bottom is clipped by the crop — only the upper half of its letters is visible — but it is legible and is included in the footnote list; the final words ("prior annual reports.") are the least certain part of it. The stub heading cell is blank in the original.
