The crop is cut off at the bottom: the table ends after Kansas with a double rule, showing only the first four census divisions (New England, Middle Atlantic, East North Central, West North Central). The remaining divisions (South Atlantic, etc.), any grand-total row, and the text of footnote 1 attached to the stub heading "Division and State" are on the continuation and are not printed on this image, so `footnotes` is empty. Verification: every one of the 12 numeric columns in each of the four division subtotal rows equals the sum of its member states exactly, which corroborates both the digits and the column each value sits in. Minor legibility points, all resolved by those checks: in the New Hampshire row the "Unaffiliated unions" votes cell (118) and the "Valid votes cast against union shop" cell (347) each carry a small stray ink mark to their left, as does the Middle Atlantic "C. I. O. affiliates" cell (93,741) and the New Jersey "Unaffiliated unions authorized" cell (51); these are page specks, not footnote markers or digits. Michigan's last column reads 273,482 (the 4 and 8 are slightly broken in the scan) and is confirmed by the East North Central total of 455,547.

p. 260. This crop is a continuation page: no column headings are printed on it, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 13 columns (stub plus 12 data columns), counted from the vertical column rules; the stub column of region/state labels is wide and its rows are filled with leader dots, which have been dropped. Rows are printed in groups: a region line (South Atlantic, East South Central, West South Central, Mountain, Pacific, Outlying areas) set flush left with its total, followed by the indented member States; each group is closed by a double rule. The indentation of State labels is not reproduced in the cell text. Scan artifacts, none of which I read as footnote markers or digits: a small ink speck sits in the Florida row inside data column 4 (that cell is otherwise blank in the sense of being the printed 0's column — the printed value there is 0, and the speck lies to the left of it); a comma-like speck follows the 95 in the Alaska row, next-to-last data column, which I transcribed as 95; a faint stray mark appears above the South Atlantic line in the stub area. The State names Virginia, Mississippi, Hawaii and others show broken/undotted "i" glyphs typical of this scan; spellings are transcribed normally. Arithmetic cross-checks all reconcile as printed: in every row data columns 2+3+4+5 equal column 1, columns 8+9+10+11 equal column 7, and each region line equals the sum of its member States in columns 1, 6, 7 and 12. No suspected misprints found.
