Reader’s notes

p. 242. The table is printed as two side-by-side panels, each with its own "Types of remedy" stub and an unlabelled value column; they are stacked here, left panel first (rows 1-5), then right panel (rows 6-9), with the heading given once. The value column carries no printed heading above the rule; instead italic unit labels ("Cases", "Workers") are printed in that column inside the body, above the figures they govern, and are transcribed as rows with an empty stub. In the right panel a short rule separates the "Workers" block from the two dollar figures, which have no italic unit label of their own. "Workers receiving back pay" shows a raised 2 printed before 101, read as the footnote marker and moved behind a caret. In the right panel's last row a small stray mark appears between "Amount" and "of" ("Amount' of union dues"); it matches no footnote and looks like a speck or broken type, so it is not transcribed. Scan quality is low in places (dotted i's and periods drop out), but all figures are legible.
