Reader’s notes

p. 232. Seven columns: stub, Total, and five "Identification of complainant" columns. The stub has no printed heading, so cell 0 of every heading level is empty. Section lines (NLRA—C cases, CA cases, CB cases, CC cases, CD cases) are printed centred across the data columns and carry a raised 1; they are given as label-only rows. Dash rules (------) stand in for values and are transcribed as "": the entire "Cases received July 1, 1949–June 30, 1950" row of the NLRA—C section, and the whole Employers column in the NLRA—C and CA sections. In the CA section a raised 2 precedes 4,472 and a raised 3 precedes 4,261 in the Total column; these are footnote markers and are written after the number. Heading wording is as printed: "A F of L. affiliates" and "C I O affiliates" appear without most of their periods in this scan (the type is worn); the intended forms are almost certainly "A. F. of L." and "C. I. O.". Likewise the periods in the footnote text for "A. F. of L." are faint or missing in places; they are written in standard form above. Footnote 1 ends without a period as printed. Row labels use an en dash in "July 1, 1949–June 30, 1950" and the section label uses an em dash in "NLRA—C". All printed totals check out against their component columns, and pending + received − closed reconciles in every section, so no misprints are suspected.
