Reader’s notes

p. 231. Seven printed columns: stub, Total, and five columns under "Identification of complainant or petitioner". The stub column has no printed heading, so the stub cell is empty in all three heading levels. The four centered span lines ("All cases", "Unfair labor practice cases", "Representation cases", "Union-shop authorization cases") are section labels printed across the data columns; they are given as label-only rows. The five row labels repeat identically in each of the four sections. In the "Union-shop authorization cases" section the footnote markers are printed raised and to the LEFT of the figures (e.g. a raised 1 before 711, a raised 4 before 1); following the convention requested, they are written after the value behind a caret. The "Employers" column in that section holds only dash rules (------) on the first four rows, transcribed as "". The last row of that section prints a true 0 under "Individuals" with no marker. The second affiliate heading is printed "C I O." with a trailing period, retained as printed. The scan's typeface renders many "i" characters without a clear dot ("pendıng", "receıved", "petitıoner"); these are read as ordinary letters. No arithmetic was adjusted; as a check, every row's components sum to its printed Total and the three section totals sum to the "All cases" figures, so no misprint is suspected.
