Reader’s notes

p. 233. This is not a numeric statistical table but an appendix list of cases, set in two side-by-side panels separated by a vertical rule. Each panel has two columns: the case number (stub, cell 0) and the company name (cell 1). Following the instructions for multi-panel tables, all 25 rows of the left panel (Abercrombie through Burns Brick) are given first, then the 29 rows of the right panel (Califruit through Gluck Bros.). No column headings are printed anywhere on the page, so header_rows is empty. The three centred lines at the top — "I. Unfair Labor Practice Cases", "A. Cases decided after contest", "1. NLRA—C cases" — are section headings of the appendix listing rather than a "Table N.—" caption, so they are transcribed as label-only section rows at the head of the body. If the project treats them as caption matter they can be dropped. Doubtful / notable cells: - "2-C-5963 American Book—Stratford Press, Inc.": the printed mark between "Book" and "Strat-" looks like a hyphen immediately followed by a longer dash (an em dash or a double hyphen); transcribed as a single em dash. - "13-C-2943 Dearborn Glass Co.": a small raised apostrophe-like speck sits just right of the case number. It is almost certainly a printing speck, not a footnote marker, so it is omitted. - "21-C-2505 Columbia Pictures.": a small ink mark sits inside the number between "21" and "-C-"; read as a plain 21-C-2505. - Region prefixes "15M-C-1217", "15M-C-1220" and "17D-C-1477" carry trailing letters; these are legible and transcribed as seen, but they are unusual compared with the plain numeric prefixes elsewhere. - "15-C-1315 Dorsey Trailers, Inc" is printed without a closing period, unlike neighbouring entries; transcribed as printed. - "17-C-1415 Des Moines Springfield & Southern Route, The." is transcribed exactly as printed; the wording reads oddly for a railway name but no misprint can be confirmed from the image. - "10-C-1893 Atlantic Stages, J. A. Booker d/b/a.": the "d/b/a" is set with small slashes and a lowered "b"; read as d/b/a. - Blank lines separating the alphabetical letter groups (after Auto Stove Works, after Duro Test Corp., etc.) are spacing only and are not transcribed as rows. - The page number at the foot is clipped by the crop and is excluded. The list continues on the following page. - Case-number dashes are printed as en dashes; they are written here as plain hyphens.

p. 234. The crop shows no column headings (a continuation page of an alphabetical case list), so header_rows is empty. The page is set as two side-by-side panels with the same two columns (case number, company name); the left panel's 37 rows are given first, then the right panel's 37 rows. Blank vertical gaps separate alphabetical letter groups; they carry no labels and are not transcribed as rows. Case numbers are printed right-aligned, so some show internal padding spaces ("3-C- 934", "15-C- 983", "15M-C- 28", "24-C-119"); the padding is dropped, giving 3-C-934, 15-C-983, 15M-C-28, 24-C-119. Likely source misprints, transcribed as printed: "Homes, D. H., Co., Ltd." (probably Holmes); "Supper-Cold Southwest Co." (probably Super-Cold); "Quarles Manufacturing Co., N. B. Quarrels, d/b/a." (the two spellings Quarles/Quarrels differ in the original). Stray ink/specks not transcribed: a small mark after "14-C-1001", a comma-like speck after "16-C-1480", a tick before "Textile" in "Opelika Textile Mills, Inc." No column headings are printed on this crop — it continues a list from the preceding page — so header_rows is empty. Following the two-panel rule, the left panel's rows are given first, then the right panel's, for each of the two blocks on the page: the block above the centred section line, then the block below it. The centred bold line "2. LMRA—CA cases" is transcribed as a label-only section row in its printed position between the two blocks. Reading order caveat: in the top block the left panel ends with the "W" entries (Westinghouse … Wytheville) and then begins a new alphabetical run with "1-C-2767 Underwood Machinery Co."; the right panel continues that run (Union Screw … Universal Camera). Left-then-right therefore reproduces the printed reading order, but readers should note the apparent alphabetical break after Wytheville is as printed, not a transcription error. Doubtful cells: - "9-CA-57 / Kentucky Utilities Co. Inc." — the mark after "Co" at the right margin is ambiguous; it is most likely "Co., Inc." with a faint comma, but only a period is clearly visible. - "10-CA-252 / Maclin, John H, Peanut Co., Inc." — the character after "John H" reads as a comma rather than a period; transcribed as seen. - "10-CA-118 / Augusta Chemical Co." — the hyphen before 118 is printed long (looks like an en dash plus hyphen); normalized to a single hyphen, as in every other case number. - "21-CA-135 / Towsend, M. L., \"Red\", Hudson Car Dealer." — the surname is printed "Towsend" (not "Townsend"); transcribed as printed. - There is a small stray ink mark in the left margin beside the "8-C-2064" row; it is a scan artifact, not a footnote marker or data. No footnote markers and no footnotes appear on this crop.
