The stub heading carries a raised footnote marker 1, but no footnote text appears on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty; the note presumably sits at the foot of the continuation page. Arithmetic cross-checks all pass, which gives high confidence in the digits and their column assignment: in every data row the four "Number of elections" counts sum exactly to the "Total elections" Number (e.g. Textile mill products 97+740+71+5=913); the 20 manufacturing group rows sum exactly to the Manufacturing line in all six count columns (7,511 / 2,089 / 1,879 / 193 / 1,505,898 / 1,332,746 and 11,672); and the three transportation sub-rows (41+66+267) sum to the Transportation equipment line's 374. Typesetting details normalized per instructions: digit-grouping commas printed with a following space ("1, 852, 333", "8, 603") are written closed up. Transportation equipment, No union authorized Percent is printed "4. 3" with a space; transcribed as 4.3. Professional, scientific, and controlling instruments, Valid votes cast Number: the thousands separator is broken/raised in the scan and reads almost as a period ("13. 860"); transcribed as 13,860, which the column sum confirms. Several stray ink specks sit beside values and are not transcribed: a dot before Manufacturing's No union Number (193), before Chemicals' No union Number (10), before Transportation equipment's No union Number (16), and an apostrophe-like speck before Miscellaneous manufacturing's 30,598; there is also a small stray mark in the right margin beside the Apparel row's Valid votes cast Number (16,735) that is page noise, not a footnote marker. Row label uncertainty: the fourth body row reads "Tobacco manufacturers" in this scan; the standard census/SIC wording is "Tobacco manufactures", and the terminal letters are not fully crisp, so the printed form may be "manufactures". Transcribed as it appears. Percent values below 1 are printed without a leading zero (".1", ".0", ".6") and are kept that way.

p. 123. Crop is a continuation page: no column headings are printed on this image, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 15 columns (stub + 14 numeric), counted from the column rules; the body is also cut off at top and bottom (the table begins above and continues below this crop). Two cells where the 1-bit scan is degraded and my first visual reading differed from what the table's own arithmetic requires; I transcribed the arithmetically supported digit and flag both for verification against the original page: - "Retail trade", column 1: rendered ambiguously as 1,069 or 1,060; transcribed 1,060. Four independent checks require 1,060: the components 829+56+133+42=1,060, and the percents 78.2 (829/1060=78.21), 5.3 (56/1060=5.28), 12.5 (133/1060=12.55) and 4.0 (42/1060=3.96) all take 1,060 as base (1,069 would give 77.6, 5.2, 12.4, 3.9). - "Communication", column 7: rendered ambiguously as 21 or 31; transcribed 31. Three independent checks require 31: the row components 158+4+31+2=195, the percent 15.9 (31/195=15.90, vs 10.8 for 21), and the Transportation group total of 233 in that column (21 would give 223). Every other figure was cross-checked and is internally consistent: all row component sums match their totals, all percent columns match their bases, the seven Transportation subrows sum exactly to the group line in all five count columns and both employee columns (173,778 and 145,774), and the four Mining subrows sum exactly to the Mining line (103, 83, 13, 4, 3, 5,111, 4,421). These checks independently confirm otherwise blurry readings such as 1,306, 11,498, 36,102, 1,563 and Wholesale trade's 3.5 in column 10. "(2)" in the percent cells of Metal mining and Coal mining is a footnote reference standing in place of a value (the usual "less than 0.05 percent" convention), printed as a raised 2 in parentheses; it is the whole cell content, not a marker attached to a number. The referenced footnote is not inside this crop. Minor typesetting artifacts, not transcribed: a stray ink speck before 53,614 in the "Heat, light, power, water, and sanitary services" row, a doubled period in "4.7" (Highway freight transportation, column 2), and specks above the Transportation group label. Percent rounding in the source is not uniform (e.g. column 10 shows .5 for 0.446 but 2.8 for 2.870, and 3.6 for 3.66); all percents are transcribed exactly as printed.
