p. 106. Seven columns: stub, Total, and the five "Identification of petitioner" columns. Header span judgment: the rules under both "Number of cases" and "Identification of petitioner" run only across the five right-hand columns, and the vertical rule separating Total from them does not extend up into the "Number of cases" band. I read that as the usual typesetting for a tall merged "Total" cell, so "Number of cases" is recorded as spanning Total plus the five petitioner columns. If instead it is meant to cover only the five petitioner columns, cell 1 of the top header row would be "Total" rather than "Number of cases"; nothing else changes. The four section labels (R cases, RC cases, RM cases, RD cases) are printed centered across the data columns, not in the stub; they are recorded as label-only rows per the grid convention. Their raised footnote markers are blotted and could be read as 2 or 3, but only footnotes 1 and 2 are printed, and footnote 2 ("definitions of types of cases") is the one they point to, so all four are transcribed as ^2. Empty cells are printed as dash rules (------), not blanks: the Individuals column throughout the R cases panel, the Employers column throughout the RC cases panel, and all five petitioner columns throughout the RM cases panel (RM petitions are filed by employers, so the whole total sits in the Employers column). No arithmetic was altered. As a check only, every Total equals the sum of its petitioner cells in all twelve data rows, which supports the column assignments. Minor scan artifacts that did not affect any reading: a stray backslash and dot in the left margin beside the RC heading, a stray mark after "162" in the last row, and speckling in the "C. I. O. affiliates" heading. The caption's trailing footnote marker 1 and the page furniture were omitted as instructed.
