Cases Decided on the Basis of Stipulated Election

p. 165. Structure: the page is a two-column list — case number (stub) and company name — with no column headings printed anywhere on the crop, so header_rows is empty. The crop opens in the middle of an alphabetical list (the tail of a section "A." whose heading is on an earlier page) and the centered line "B. Cases Decided on the Basis of Stipulated Election" is transcribed as a label-only row. The blank lines that separate alphabetical groups (P / R / S / T / U / W / Y, and within section B) are typographic spacing, not printed rows, so no empty rows were inserted. The list continues onto the following page: "9-R-2715 Electro Metallurgical Co." is the last line inside the crop. Doubtful cells, all in the stub (case-number) column: in this bold scanned face the digits 3 and 8 are very hard to separate. "13-R-4386" (Warshawsky & Co.) and "13-R-4042" (Crane Co.) could each be read "18-R-..."; I read them as 13 because every neighbouring 4,000-series number on the page is 13-R-4xxx (Ruberoid, Sunbeam, U. S. Reduction, Unity, Chicago Foundry, Coleman, the second Crane Co.), but 18 cannot be ruled out from the image alone. For the same reason "4-R-2698" (Barker & Williamson) may be 4-R-2693, "1-R-3845" (Eastern Live Poultry Co.) may be 1-R-3345, and "21-R-3941" (American Smelting & Refining Co.) may be 21-R-8941. The leading digit of "6-R-1818" (Chicago Railway Equipment Corp.) is faint and set slightly left of the other single-digit prefixes; it may be a two-character prefix. "15-RE-14" (Carey Salt Co., The.) carries an RE rather than R case letter — that is what is printed, not a misreading of the hyphen. Suspected typesetting artefacts, left uncorrected in the cells except as noted: row 2 (19-R-2076) is printed "Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, Co., The." with what appears to be an ink speck or stray comma after "Telegraph"; I transcribed the name without it to match row 1, which is otherwise identical. "Rowe-Jordon Furniture Corp." (5-R-2945) is printed with an "o" in the second word and is probably a misprint for Rowe-Jordan; transcribed as printed. "du Pont, E. I., de Nemours & Co." (5-R-2977) is printed in that order — the usual firm name is E. I. du Pont de Nemours — and is transcribed as printed, lower-case "du" included.

p. 166. The crop is a continuation page of an alphabetical case list, not a numeric statistical table: two printed columns, stub = case number, second column = company name. No column headings, no caption and no footnotes appear on this image, so header_rows is empty. Blank lines separate the alphabetical letter groups (G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, V, W, Z); they carry no label or values and are not transcribed as rows. Doubtful cells (1-bit 300-ppi scan, so character-level reading is the main risk): - Row 1, stub: reads "15M-R-96"; the "M" suffix on the region number is unusual but matches the sub-office style seen in "17D-R-49" (Penney, J. C.). The leading "15" and the trailing "96" are both slightly broken in the scan. - Row 1, name column: "Fied-Sul Paper Mill, Inc." — the hyphenated first word is indistinct; it could be "Fled-Sul" or a similar spelling. - Row 7, name column: "Hermas Machine Co., Inc." — the fifth letter reads as "a"; "Hermes" is the more common spelling and may be the intended word, but "Hermas" is what is printed. - Row 23, name column: "Penney, J. C., Co., Store No. 33." — the comma after the second "Co" sits high and could be a damaged period. - Case-number digits generally: several four-digit serials (e.g. "2-R-7873", "13-R-4488", "9-R-2602", "13-R-4307") have partly filled loops typical of this scan; the readings given are my best match but single digits such as 3/8, 6/8 and 0/6 carry some risk. Em/en dashes in the case numbers have been written as plain hyphens. Trailing periods that end each company name are kept as printed; they are sentence periods, not leader dots.
