Reader’s notes
p. 97. Single heading level over six columns (stub plus five data columns). Every column reconciles exactly against the printed "Total, 1936-47" row when the twelve fiscal-year rows and the "July 1-Aug. 21, 1947" row are added (36,969 / 24,852 / 2,348 / 8,951 / 818), which independently confirms the digits in the degraded scan. The stub year labels are badly broken by the scan (1936 renders as "1986", 1937 as "1987", 1938 as "1988", 1939 as "1980"); they are transcribed as the unambiguous consecutive fiscal years 1936-1947 that the caption and the sequence require. Blank cells in the Stipulated and Prehearing columns are printed as dash rules and are given as "". The footnote line is clipped at the very bottom edge of the crop, with only the upper half of the type visible; it reads "1 Including the period July 1-Aug. 21, 1947." The dashes in "1936-47" and "July 1-Aug. 21" are printed as en dashes/hyphens that cannot be distinguished at this resolution; plain hyphens are used.
