p. 94. The table has a single heading level; the stub heading is "Stage and method" and the second data column heading "Percent of cases closed" is printed on three lines. Row labels "Adjusted", "Withdrawn", "Dismissed" and "Closed otherwise" each appear more than once; they are indented subdivisions of the "Before formal action, total", "Before Board decision" and "After Board decision" groups respectively, in the order printed. In the first "Closed otherwise" row, the 1939 cell has a small stray apostrophe-like mark printed just to the left of the value 35; it is a printing speck or broken type, not a footnote marker, and the value is transcribed as 35 (it is consistent with the 1939 column sum). In the last two rows ("Dismissed" and "Closed otherwise" under "After Board decision") the 1936 cell holds a dash rule rather than a figure, transcribed as an empty cell. Percentages printed with a leading decimal point and no zero (".5", ".4", ".1", ".3") are kept as printed. No arithmetic was performed on the figures, but as a check every year column and the 1936-47 total column cross-foot exactly to the printed subtotals and grand total, and no misprints were detected.
