Reader’s notes

p. 91. Six columns: stub plus three under "Number of cases" and two under "Percent of total". Doubtful cell: row 1946, column "C cases" under "Percent of total" is printed as "31 1" — the decimal point did not survive the scan (every other percent in the column has one, and the paired R-cases value 68.9 implies 31.1); transcribed as "31.1". The row labels 1936-1947 are bare years followed by leader dots; the dash in "Total, 1936-47" and "July 1-Aug. 21, 1947" is an en dash in the original. The caption's own footnote marker (Table 2 ... 1936-47 1) is omitted per instructions, but the same footnote 1 is also attached to the "Total, 1936-47" row label and is kept there. Arithmetic spot-checks of the detail years against "All cases" agree as printed.
