Number of elections and cross checks, number eligible to vote, and number of votes cast for participating unions during the fiscal year 1946, by petitioner

Eleven columns: stub, "Number of elections and cross checks", the two "Elections won by petitioner" columns, "Eligible voters, number", five "Valid vote cast for—" columns, and "Percent of total votes cast for petitioner". Decimal points: in the two percent columns the decimal point is mostly lost in the scan, so the figures print as e.g. "70 7", "75 3", "62 8"; a few (55.6, 39.9, 36.9, 54.6) still show the point clearly. Since every value in these columns is a one-decimal percentage and the division checks confirm it (e.g. 3,953/5,589 = 70.7; 10/18 = 55.6), I have written them with the decimal point rather than the scanned gap. Footnote markers 1-13 are raised digits printed immediately before the value in the "Number of elections and cross checks" column; I have moved each behind a caret after its value. Footnote markers 12 and 13 sit on the "A. F. of L. alone" and "Unaffiliated union alone" rows of the Employer petitioner block. No footnote text appears on this crop - the image ends at the closing rule of the table - so `footnotes` is empty even though the markers are present; the footnote text presumably falls below the crop or on the facing page. Empty cells are printed as dash rules ("------"), transcribed as "". Verification: every column cross-foots exactly. The four block subtotals sum to the Total row in all ten numeric columns, and within each block the detail lines sum to the block line; within each data row the A. F. of L. + C. I. O. + Unaffiliated + No union votes sum to the "Total" valid vote. This confirms the column assignment of the sparsely filled rows, in particular the Employer petitioner block where most cells are dashes - e.g. "A. F. of L. and unaffiliated union on ballot" has 115 under "Unaffiliated unions" with "No union" blank (84 + 115 = 199), and "A. F. of L. and C. I. O. on ballot" has 3 under "No union" with "Unaffiliated unions" blank (155 + 108 + 3 = 266). Column 7 of the Total row is 263,641: the glyphs are degraded and could be misread as 203,641, but the block sum 40,100 + 213,643 + 8,835 + 1,063 = 263,641 settles it. Stray ink: a tick appears before "8,597" (Unaffiliated union on ballot / A. F. of L.), before "25.0" and "·47.8" in the percent columns, before "11,515" and "1,877" in "Eligible voters, number", and before "1,820" and "71.1" on the C. I. O. affiliate line. These are scan artifacts or faint stray marks, not footnote markers or digits, and are not transcribed. The right-hand "Percent of total votes cast for petitioner" column does not reconcile with petitioner votes divided by the printed valid-vote total (e.g. the A. F. of L. affiliate line prints 50.8 where 129,437/245,945 = 52.6), presumably because its denominator is total votes cast including invalid or challenged ballots rather than the valid vote shown. Transcribed as printed; nothing computed or corrected.
