Disposition of representation cases closed during the fiscal year 1945, by stage and method

p. 91. Four columns (stub + 3), one heading level. The crop cuts the table off at the bottom: it ends after the "Dismissed / 6 / 0.1 / 0.1" line, and the body is clearly incomplete (the "After formal action, total" of 2,346 is only partly accounted for by the "Before hearing" block of 96, so the remaining stages — after hearing, etc. — continue on the following page). No footnote text appears on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty even though footnote marker 1 is referenced in the body; its definition is presumably printed at the end of the continued table. Cells reading "(1)" are a raised, parenthesised footnote reference standing alone in place of a value (the usual NLRB convention for "less than 0.05 percent"); they are transcribed as printed rather than attached to any number. They occur in the "Percent of cases closed" and "Percent of cases on docket" columns on the rows "Otherwise", "Recognition" (second occurrence, under the Before-hearing block) and "Cross-check". "Cases on docket during the year" has only a dash/leader rule under "Percent of cases closed", transcribed as "". Note the label difference between the two Adjusted blocks as printed: "Cross-checks" (plural) in the before-formal-action block and "Cross-check" (singular) in the before-hearing block; both are kept as printed. Row labels "Recognition", "Consent election", "Cross-check(s)" are indented sub-items of "Adjusted"; indentation is not represented in the grid. Arithmetic checks pass as printed (186+2,409+447=3,042; 3,042+945+450+1=4,438; 4,438+2,346=6,784; 1+52+2=55; 55+35+6=96), so no misprints are suspected in the visible portion.

p. 92. Continuation page of Table 8 (the crop carries a "—Continued" caption), so the rows begin mid-table with "After hearing"; the earlier stages of the table are on the preceding page. Four printed columns, one heading level. The cells written "(1)" contain only a parenthesised raised 1, which is the reference to footnote 1 ("Less than 0.1 percent") standing in place of a percentage value, not a quantity. They occur in the two percent columns for Cross-check, Dismissed (under Adjusted/After hearing), Without election (under Certified) and Otherwise. Indentation is preserved in wording only: "Adjusted", "Withdrawn", "Dismissed" are sub-stages of "After hearing"; "Certified", "Dismissed", "Withdrawn", "Otherwise" are sub-stages of "After Board decision"; the election/cross-check lines are indented one level further under "Certified" and under "Dismissed". The labels "Stipulated election", "Ordered election", "Without election" and "Dismissed" therefore each appear twice, in the order printed. The scan renders some digits with broken strokes: "Certified" number of cases reads 1,487 (the 8 is clipped and can look like S), "Dismissed" number of cases reads 529, and the percent-of-cases-on-docket value for the first "Stipulated election" under Dismissed reads 0.8. All were legible enough to transcribe with confidence. Printed decimals carry a typesetting space after the point ("2. 1", "0. 8"); transcribed without the space. Nothing was computed or checked for arithmetic consistency. The caption of the following table ("Table 9.—...") is partly visible at the bottom edge of the crop and is excluded.
