Reader’s notes
p. 83. Three printed columns; the two section lines ("SUBSECTIONS OF SECTION 8 OF THE ACT" and "RECAPITULATION", both set centred in small capitals) carry a label only and are given empty value cells. Row "8 (1) (4) (5)", Percent of total: the cell holds no number, only a parenthesised raised 2 referring to the "Less than 0.1 percent" footnote; transcribed as "(^2)". A stray ink speck (resembling an apostrophe) sits just left of it in that cell and has been ignored. The marker on the second footnote is printed with a worn superscript glyph that could be read as 3, but it is the 2 called out in the "8 (1) (4) (5)" percent cell, so it is transcribed as 2. The table's caption carries footnote marker 1; per instructions the caption itself is omitted. Nothing is cut off by the crop. No arithmetic was performed on the cells, but as a check every printed value is internally consistent: the 13 detail counts sum to the printed total 2,573, and each recapitulation figure (187, 1,761, 47, 465) equals the sum of the detail rows containing that subsection.
