Reader’s notes
p. 25. Seven columns: stub plus three two-column blocks (Elections and pay-roll checks / Eligible voters / Valid votes), each with Number and Percent of total. The stub heading "Type of election or pay-roll check" spans both heading levels. Row structure: "Elections" and "Pay-roll checks" appear twice, as indented sub-rows of "Consent" (rows 3-4) and of "Stipulated" (rows 6-7); the labels are printed identically in both groups, with indentation the only distinguishing mark. "Ordered elections" is a top-level row with no sub-rows. The percentages under .7, .3 and .2 are printed with a leading decimal point and no zero, as transcribed. All printed figures are internally consistent (sub-rows sum to their group, and Consent + Stipulated + Ordered elections equals the Total in every column), so no misprint is suspected. Scan speckle leaves a faint dot before "Total" and in the margins; these are artifacts, not footnote markers. No footnotes are printed under the table.
