Reader’s notes

p. 30. The cell at row "Otherwise", column "Percent of total / 1942" holds no number: it is a raised 1 in parentheses referring to footnote 1 ("Less than 0.1 percent."), transcribed as "(1)". Decimal fractions under "Percent of total" are printed without a leading zero (e.g. ".1"); transcribed as printed. The typesetting leaves a space after the decimal point in several percent cells (e.g. "100. 0", "28. 3") and after the comma in the thousands figures (e.g. "5, 928"); these spaces are closed up per instructions. Stray ink specks sit on either side of "48.7" (Adjustment row, Percent of total / 1941) and above the caption; they are page noise, not footnote markers. A faint speck also sits over the "Percent of total / 1942" rule between the Total and Certification rows. All columns are internally consistent as printed: the six detail rows sum to the printed Total in each of the four case columns, and each percent column sums to 100.0.
