Disposition of representation cases closed during the fiscal year 1942, by stage and method, by party filing

p. 87. Grid is 11 columns: stub plus five two-column panels (Number / Workers involved). Footnote markers 1 (on "All cases") and 2 (on "Workers involved" in the All cases panel) are printed in the headings, but no footnote text appears in this crop, so `footnotes` is empty; the table also appears to continue past the "After Board decision" line on the following page (that line's sub-rows are not in the crop). Doubtful / notable cells: - "Withdrawn" in the third block (after hearing), All cases / Number: the glyph reads 70 and is transcribed as printed, but both the column (After hearing 111 − Adjusted 30 − Dismissed 2 = 79) and the row across the panels (65 + 10 + 3 + 1 = 79) require 79. Either a misprint in the report or a 9 whose tail is lost in this 1-bit scan. - "Pay-roll check" in the first block (before formal action), Cases filed by unaffiliated unions / Number: the glyph is ambiguous between 50 and 59 at this scan resolution; transcribed 59 because the column requires it (Adjusted 254 − 32 − 163 = 59). - "Adjusted" (before formal action), All cases / Number and "Adjusted" (before hearing), A. F. of L. / Workers involved: the thousands separator in "3,420" and "3,342" is printed/scanned as what looks like a period rather than a comma; transcribed as commas. - The third panel heading is "Cases filed by C. I. O. affiliates"; the C of "C. I. O." renders like an O in this scan. - Row labels repeat across the three disposition blocks (Adjusted / Recognition / Consent election / Pay-roll check / Withdrawn / Dismissed); the printed indentation that nests them under "Before formal action, total", "Before hearing" and "After hearing" is not representable in the grid. - Every other value was checked against its panel's own subtotals and totals and is internally consistent. Across panels the sums exceed the "All cases" figures in the "before formal action" rows (e.g. cases closed 2,813 + 2,723 + 659 + 92 = 6,287 vs 6,285 printed), presumably what footnote 1 explains; nothing was adjusted.

p. 88. This crop is the tail of a table continued from the preceding page: no column headings are printed on the image, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 11 columns (stub plus 10 numeric), which the vertical column rules show as five two-column pairs; the pair labels (presumably cases and workers for each party filing) are on the missing heading band. All ten numeric columns are internally consistent, which supports the digit reading: for "Closed by certification" each value equals the sum of the three indented rows beneath it (e.g. 199+743+7=949; 160,792+425,642+12,837=599,271; 4,025+47,934+8=51,967), and the same holds for every column of "Dismissed" (e.g. 15+102+100=217; 2,105+22,451+17,429=41,985; 0+160+710=870). No printed total appears to be in error. Doubtful cells: the marker on the second footnote is a small raised glyph that could be read as 2 or 3; I transcribe it as 2 because it follows footnote 1 and no 3 appears. The page reference in that footnote reads "p. 16" but the final digit is lightly inked and could be 15. In the "Without election" row under "Closed by certification", the fourth numeric column is a single "4" against 12,837 in the second column; the stroke is clear and the column sum (8,158+137,160+4=145,322) confirms it, so it is not a truncated figure. There is a small stray ink dot in the fifth numeric column on the "After stipulated election" row under "Dismissed", just left of the figure 7; it is printing debris, not a footnote marker, and is not transcribed. The indentation distinguishing the sub-rows from "Closed by certification", "Dismissed" and "Withdrawn" is not representable in the grid, so the three "After stipulated election" / "After ordered election" / "Without election" labels appear twice, once under each parent row.
