Reader’s notes

p. 114. This page is not a statistical table: it is Appendix A, a three-column list of NLRB regional offices (office location / territory / directing personnel), set as a grid with no column rules and no printed column headings, so header_rows is empty. The lines "APPENDIX A" and "REGIONAL OFFICES—LOCATION, TERRITORY, AND DIRECTING PERSONNEL" are the section head and caption and were omitted, as were the page number 107 and the printer's signature line "427441—42——8" at the foot of the page. Each region's entry is a single row; the heavily hyphenated justified text was rejoined (e.g. "Ver- mont" to "Vermont", "Her- rick" to "Herrick", "Glouces- ter" to "Gloucester", "Somer- set" to "Somerset", "Hunt- erdon" to "Hunterdon"). All cells are text; there are no numbers. The list is cut off by the page break after Region 5 — Region 6 and the remaining regions continue on the following page. Minor typographic specks appear in the scan after "Schauffler," (row 4, personnel column) and before "rick" and "director" (rows 2 and 4, personnel column); these are stray marks from the justified setting, not footnote markers, and were not transcribed.

p. 115. This is a text table (not numeric): a continuation page of the list of NLRB regional offices, with three columns — office/address (stub), territory, and personnel. No column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty; the table clearly continues from the preceding page (it begins mid-list at Region 6) and continues onto the next page (the list stops at Region 10 and no closing rule follows other than the footnote rule). Every row label and cell wraps over many printed lines; these have been joined and end-of-line hyphens repaired (e.g. "Build- ing" -> "Building", "Goge- bic" -> "Gogebic", "Crane- field" -> "Cranefield", "Dela- ware" -> "Delaware", "Po- cahontas" -> "Pocahontas", "Flori- da" -> "Florida", "Tennes- see" -> "Tennessee", "Coun- ties" -> "Counties", "For- syth" -> "Forsyth", "direc- tor" -> "director", "Mar- shall" -> "Marshall", "north- ern" -> "northern", "bor- ders" -> "borders"). In the Region 6 territory column the West Virginia county is printed "Brook" (a likely misprint for "Brooke"); transcribed as printed. In the Region 10 territory the printed punctuation reads "South Carolina; Georgia, Flori-da, east of the eastern borders of ..." so it is ambiguous whether the qualifier attaches to Georgia or Florida; punctuation transcribed exactly as printed. The superscript 1 after "Ga." in the Region 10 stub is a footnote marker. Faint stray ink specks appear in the outer margins (left and right of the text block); they are not table content.

p. 116. This is not a numeric statistical table but the Appendix A list of NLRB regional offices, set as three columns: (0) region number and office address, (1) territory covered, (2) director and attorney. No column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The crop continues a list begun on the preceding page (it starts mid-sequence at Region 11) and the list continues on the following page (it ends at Region 16); the earlier and later entries are cut off by the crop. Footnote marker: the raised digit after "New Orleans, La." and the matching marker opening the footnote line are small and slightly blurred; the glyph is clearly not a "1" but I could not distinguish "2" from "3" with certainty. I transcribed both as 2. Readers verifying footnote numbering across the appendix should re-check this digit. The original uses wide letter-spacing for justification in several labels ("B u i l d i n g", "C h i c a g o", "U n i o n", "F e d e r a l", "F r e d e r i c k", "A u d r a i n", "M a r i e s", "M a c k i n a c"); I closed these up to normal spelling. End-of-line hyphens were repaired, e.g. "Chip-pewa" to "Chippewa", "Keewee-naw" to "Keweenaw", "Onton-agon" to "Ontonagon", "Mont-gomery" to "Montgomery", "Rus-sell" to "Russell", "Mississ-ippi" to "Mississippi". The caption/running head ("APPENDIX A") and page number (109) were omitted as instructed. A few stray ink specks and a small pen-like mark appear in the right margin; they are not part of the table.

p. 117. This crop is a continuation page of a three-column directory of NLRB regional offices (office/address; territory covered; director and attorney). No column headings are printed on this page, so header_rows is empty. The list continues from the preceding page: it starts mid-sequence at Region 17 and ends at Region 22, which appears to be the last entry (the rest of the page is blank). Several words in the stub are set with wide letter spacing in the original ("U n i t e d", "S t a t e s", "W e s l e y", "C o l o r a d o", "D e n v e r", "C h a r l e s") and have been joined into normal words; end-of-line hyphens ("Kan-sas", "Mar-ket", "San Fran-cisco", "direc-tor", "Terri-tory", "Mc-Ternan", "di-rector", "at-torney") have been repaired. Personal names are uncommon and are transcribed exactly as printed; the ones most open to doubt are "Nachtman" (Region 17 attorney), "Rosseter" (Region 20 director) and "Kuelthau" (Region 22 attorney). The running head and page number 110 are omitted as instructed.
