Reader’s notes
p. 41. Seven columns: stub, Number of cases, two "Percentage of—" columns (Total cases closed; Total cases on docket), Number of workers involved, and two more "Percentage of—" columns (Total number of workers involved in cases closed; Total number of workers involved in cases on docket). The stub has no printed heading. "Number of cases" and "Number of workers involved" are tall single headings spanning both heading levels, so they are repeated in each level. Doubtful cell: "By settlement" (row 5), Number of cases column — the digit group separator images as a period rather than a comma ("1. 990"), almost certainly a worn/broken comma in the scan. Transcribed as 1,990; this is confirmed arithmetically, since 1,990 + 539 + 1,269 + 35 = 3,833, the printed subtotal. "By withdrawal before hearing", last column (Total number of workers involved in cases on docket) prints the footnote reference "(1)" in place of a value (footnote 1: less than 0.05 percent); transcribed literally as (1). Note the printed figure 716 of 1,370,275 is about 0.052 percent, so the "(1)" reference looks inconsistent with the footnote's threshold, but it is transcribed as printed. "By compliance with Board decision" carries a raised 2 footnote marker, recorded as ^2. Dash-rule cells ("------") in the percentage columns are rendered as empty strings. All printed totals check out: 3,833 + 397 = 4,230 cases closed; 362,029 + 82,077 = 444,106 workers; 4,230 + 2,902 = 7,132 total docket cases; 444,106 + 926,169 = 1,370,275 total docket workers. Stray ink specks appear after "53" in the Number of cases column and above the last column in the "By settlement before hearing" row; these are artifacts, not characters.
