Reader’s notes

p. 32. Seven columns: stub, "Number of cases", two percentage columns under the first "Percentage of—" spanner, "Number of workers involved", and two percentage columns under the second "Percentage of—" spanner. The stub column has no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty; "Number of cases" and "Number of workers involved" are tall single headings and are repeated in both levels. Footnote-reference cells: in the rows "By dismissal before issuance of Board decision" and "By compliance with intermediate report", the last two columns each hold a parenthesized raised 1 (the whole cell is the footnote marker standing in for a value, i.e. "less than 0.05 percent"); transcribed as "(1)". Cells printed as dashed leader rules (the six value columns of "By withdrawal before issuance of Board decision", "By transfer to other agencies" under the formal-action section, "By intermediate report finding no violation", "Certification", "Compliance", "Dismissal of complaint or petition", and the "Total cases closed" percentage column of the three pending/received/docket rows) are transcribed as "". The value 2,684 in "Number of workers involved" for "Cases pending June 30, 1938" has a handwritten ink circle around it in the scan; the printed digits are legible and unaltered. All printed totals cross-check against their components (118+561=679; 190+239+112+7=548; 548+10=558; 558+121=679; 10,412+3,805+5,972+70=20,259; 20,259+381=20,640; 20,640+2,684=23,324), and the percentage columns likewise sum as printed; no misprints detected.
