  1. 1 In a number of cases, charges and petitions were filed relating to the same group of employees. In those cases where the number of employees involved has been included in the amount involved in complaint cases, this number has been omitted from the total of those involved in representation cases, and vice versa.
  2. 2 Less than 0.05 percent.

0 of 40 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 27. Seven printed columns: stub, "Number of cases", two percentage columns under the first "Percentage of—" spanner, "Number of workers involved", and two percentage columns under the second "Percentage of—" spanner. The stub has no printed heading (only a stray typographic dot), so its heading cells are empty. Cells printed as a parenthesized raised 2 are footnote references standing alone in the cell (footnote 2 = "Less than 0.05 percent"); they are transcribed as "(2)". In the row "By intermediate report finding no violation" the raised digits in the "Total cases on docket" and the two worker-percentage columns are blurred in the scan and could in principle be read as another character, but footnote 2 is the only plausible reference and the other cells in that row print a clear 2; all were transcribed as "(2)". Percentages under 1 are printed without a leading zero (".7", ".5", ".8", ".1", ".2", ".3", ".6"); transcribed as printed. Cells containing only a dash rule of leader dots (the "Total cases closed" / "Total number of workers involved in cases closed" columns for the pending, received, total-on-docket and final pending rows) are empty strings. The "Number of workers involved" value of 2 in the row "By intermediate report finding no violation" is as printed (it matches the column total arithmetic). All printed totals check out internally: 2,202+10,430=12,632; the four before-formal-action rows sum to 8,042; the nine after-formal-action rows sum to 809; 8,042+809=8,851; 8,851+3,781=12,632; and the corresponding worker columns sum to 1,209,097, 636,721, 1,845,818 and 3,131,688. No misprints detected.
