Reader’s notes

p. 156. The crop is a full report page (chapter head "XV. FISCAL AFFAIRS", printed page 150) rather than a ruled table. It carries two leader-dot financial statements separated by a narrative paragraph. I transcribed both statements into one grid, stacked in printed order, and kept their centred sub-headings ("FUNDS TRANSFERRED AND APPROPRIATED", "EXPENDITURES AND OBLIGATIONS") as label-only section rows so the two statements stay distinguishable; the chapter head and the two narrative paragraphs between them ("There was available to the Board during the fiscal year 1936 1 the sum of $659,000 ..." and "The expenditures and obligations for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1936, are as follows:") are not transcribed as rows. Column structure: there are no printed column headings, so header_rows is empty. Three columns: cell 0 is the stub; column 1 is the inner, indented amount column used only by the two Supplemental Appropriation Act items; column 2 is the outer amount column used by everything else, including all of the second statement. Row 7 has no label: under the rule that closes the inner column, "290,000" is printed alone in the outer column as the subtotal of $275,000 + 15,000. I kept it as its own row with an empty stub rather than attaching it to an adjacent labelled row. The footnote marker 1 is printed on "fiscal year 1936" in the narrative paragraph, not on any row label or value, so no caret marker appears in the grid. The typesetting leaves a space after each digit-grouping comma ("$304, 000"); these are written closed up. "1934-35" is printed with an en dash. No misprints detected: every printed total cross-foots. The nine expenditure items sum to 605,571 (Total salaries and expenses); 605,571 + 15,000 = 620,571 (Grand total obligations); 620,571 + 38,429 = 659,000 (Total available funds); and in the first statement 275,000 + 15,000 = 290,000 and 304,000 + 290,000 + 65,000 = 659,000.
