0 of 38 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 41. Four columns of values plus the stub; the stub has no printed heading, so the stub cell is empty in both heading levels. The two top-level headings each span two columns (\"Number of—\" over Cases and Workers involved; \"Percentage of—\" over Total cases and Cases in category).\n\nThe footnote marker is a small raised letter printed BEFORE the figure in two cells: \"By consolidation\" / Workers involved (transcribed 1^a) and \"Total complaint cases\" / Workers involved (transcribed 160,346^a). The glyph is a small italic superscript that reads as \"a\" at this scan resolution; it could conceivably be another symbol, but it matches the marker opening the footnote line.\n\nThe \"By withdrawal of charge after hearing\" / Total cases cell is the one doubtful glyph: the digit after the decimal point could be read as 3 or 8 in this 1-bit scan. It is transcribed as .3 because the section's Total cases column then sums exactly to the printed subtotal 12.1 (2.1 + .7 + 1.5 + 1.0 + .3 + 6.5), whereas .8 would give 12.6.\n\nNo misprints detected: every section's four columns add to its printed total, the three section totals add to the printed grand totals (865 cases; 160,346 workers; 100.0 percent), and the Cases-in-category columns each add to 100.0.\n\nThe last cell of the \"Total complaint cases\" row holds only a dash rule and is transcribed as an empty string. Leader dots after row labels are dropped. The page number and the caption line are omitted as instructed. The page reference in the footnote reads \"p. 33\" (the second digit is slightly broken in the scan but matches the first).
