0 of 16 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.
p. 37. Three printed columns, one heading level. The "Number of workers involved" column checks out exactly: the seven data rows sum to 40,354, the printed total. The "Number of cases" column does not: the seven data rows as printed sum to 381, but the total row prints 331. The total-row digits read "331" to me on this scan; given the perfect agreement of the other column, either the middle digit of the total is a damaged "8" (i.e. 381) or one data value is misprinted/misread. I have transcribed every cell as it appears and made no correction. The likeliest individually doubtful cells, in descending order, are the Total row / Number of cases ("331"), Recognition of workers' representatives / Number of cases ("108", could conceivably be "58"), and Other^a / Number of cases ("86", could conceivably be "36"); each of those alternatives would reconcile the column. The footnote marker on "Other" is a small raised letter that reads as "a"; the matching note below the table opens with the same badly inked raised character. Below that note, separated by a short horizontal rule, the page carries a further footnote belonging to the running text, not to this table: '1 The word "strike" is used to include both strikes and lockouts.' Because no "1" marker appears anywhere in the table and the rule separates it from the table's own note, I have left it out of `footnotes`. The crop also includes the caption, which is excluded per instructions; nothing appears cut off.
